Is there a diet out there to lose 10-15 pounds for those of us that are hypothyroid?

Have you tried gluten-free? That sometimes helps people lose weight.

But, if your FT3 is not optimal, there's not much you can do. Low-calorie diets will probably have the opposite effect and make you put more on. So, not advisable to try.

And, even if you did manage to lose it, you would probably end up putting it all back on again, plus some.

You need to eat well and clean and optimise your T3, that's the only way.

I am gluten free because of stomach issues. Thanks, I guess I will just try for healthy.

That's the best thing to do. And, make sure you eat enough. You need calories to convert T4 to T3.

I'm with Greygoose, I just got totally fed up with worrying about calories when I wasn't loosing weight anyway. So, I gave up calories counting, gave up weighing myself and I'm just concentrating on eating healthy. I can tell by my clothes if I'm gaining or loosing so the scales have gone and I'm much happier😀

I have been doing Slimming World with quite a lot of success. I know I am grieving for my dad at the moment, so might count for the weight loss, but I lost 7lb in my first week back. Lose on average around 2-3lb, sometimes less, some times more, but it averages out over the month.

Hope you get to your goal :)

The Autoimmune Protocol. It's a diet based in paleo. If you have hypothyroidism (as I do) it's likely caused by autoimmunity - Hashimoto's disease. The Autoimmune Protocol diet is designed to reduce the inflammation caused by your over active immune system and as it's reduced carb and incredibly nutritious you could lose a lot of weight and feel fantastic. I've dropped 3 stone and 5 inches off my waist since Christmas on this diet.

There is a Facebook group dedicated to AIP for Hashimoto's hypothyroid patients. It has 60,000 members and it saved my life (really). If you're serious about following the diet and want to learn about Hashimoto's, autoimmunity and how to treat both I'd encourage you to join: facebook.com/groups/hashimo...

It's a private group so please request membership. You'll need to hang on a few hours or a day or two if there is a backlog of new members to be processed. It is incredibly well run and operates on a US time zone and shuts at night so the forum can be properly managed.

I have been doing slimming world since February and have lost 17lbs. It comes off slowly - only one or two pounds a week, but at least it's coming off! I had lost hope of ever losing weight as nothing seemed to work for me before

If you are on an optimum dose of thyroid hormones that suit, your weight should reduce. Weight gain is a clinical symptom. It can be hard for a diet to be successful if we're not on sufficient hormones. If we are then it is easier. Some links within may not work as the site is now archived.

Tcharmon, insulin resistance is a high cause for weight gain. It's good that you are watching what you eat but if your gut is in bad shape this is something that may help with that. It's actually a substance found in butter and is a fatty acid that is healing. Check it out.
