Another bruise.

I woke up this morning & found yet another bruise on my leg. It doesn`t hurt, but looks terrible. I don`t remember bumping into anything, so I can`t figure out why it`s there. I had a recent blood test at the doctor`s, & surely if anything serious was going on, I`d have heard from the doctor by now. Is this part & parcel of thyroid disease, & if so, is there anything that i can do to stop or minimise bruising?

Hairyfairy,

Easy bruising can be a sign of hypothyroidism but if you are adequately medicated it shouldn't be so prominent. I bruise easily but I've never woken up with a terrible looking bruise I can't account for. I think you should consult your GP.

This is also a symptom of something called ITP caused by white blood cells attacking the platelets in your blood. Causes bruising with just the lightest touch. This is potentially a serious problem I would definitely go to your GP.

Iv`e had a blood test recently, & surely if there was something serious they`d have contacted me by now. My colour is healthy, & I don`t get tired ecxessively so I doubt if it`s down to a blood disease.
