I'm getting my own tests done from Blue Horizon because my GP is rubbish. How long should I leave it between testing? Is 2 weeks long enough for an accurate result?

Sip1,

I don't understand your questions. 6-8 weeks is the recommended time for testing after a dose adjustment. Once thyroid levels and dose are stable then testing can be done annually.

Hi Sip, you need to leave at least six weeks between a change of doses before you test, or it will be a complete waste of time and money. Two weeks will not give an accurate result. This link explains how thyroid hormones are absorbed and how long that takes. Patience is required, which I know is difficult when you are not well.
