I am very sorry for you and you have definitely gone through a roller-coaster. How can they make such a mistake as to remove your thyroid gland before making absolutely sure.

Those who have Graves will respond.

I would insist that they now just don't give you levothyroxine alone but a combination of T3/T4 as research has proven that it is better than T4 only for many. They ought to reimburse you in some way as well.

Ask if they will also add T3 to your T4 as new research has shown it is more beneficial than T4 only.

Hi, what about this then I was in hospital about to have a new battery put in my I.c.d. pacemaker, and second day there I had a seizure, don't know why, so they did a brain scan and told me I had a growth on my pittruitory gland, so they put me on more pills hydrocortisone 20 MG's a day basically they are steroids, anyway had my pacemaker re- newed and started taking hydrocortisone and felt fine, 12 months later had an appointment to check the growth hasn't grown or is cancerous, and had all the tests and eyesight tests, and they told me I don't have a growth there at all, it was a artifact on the c.t scan. Don't get me wrong I was over the moon they made a mistake just pissed off I had to take the medication, which while I was taking hydrocortisone I put on loads of weight, and I had fatigue and generally felt like shit, I'm already on a lot of medication for my heart, and other things, so I stopped taking hydrocortisone, and within a week I felt great I couldn't believe it, lost all the weight and got my life back, I'm only 49. Anyway its good to get it off my chest to write about it. I, hope you all feel OK and have hope and faith, all the best to you all. From, temple11pinky@hotmail.com bye. Stay safe and happy all..

You will find the answer to that, and many, many more questions about abbreviations and acronyms, by dowloading my document created especially for members here:

NDT = "natural" desicccated thyroid.

Animal thyroids that have been dried, standardised, made into pills. Usually from pigs.

(Term is usually reserved for prescription-quality products rather than dietary supplements that contain desiccated thyroid that may have had the hormones removed.)
