Hi

Got my diagnosis yesterday after symptoms lasting 2 1/12 weeks,.

Did anyone else have severe headaches, throbbing in head, really sore throat and high and low temperatures as well as sleep loss, weight loss and increased heart rate?

I am hyperthyroid and have graves disease and I had headaches , aching joints , extremely sensitive to heat and felt like I couldn't cope with anything as I was so ratty but beyond control . I also looked pale and had hair loss but whilst weight loss is common with hyperthyroidism , I actually gained weight . I also had sore throats . I am feeling much better now as I am on carbimazole . Has the Dr prescribed medication ? . My advice would be to read up as much as possible and always put blood test results and their range references on here and people will reply . This forum is fantastic as you get to learn so much . You will start to feel better eventually but it's not a quick fix . Have you got your blood test results ? . I also had a resting pulse of 122 and was prescribed beta blockers again this is a symptom as everything will be accelerated. My t4 on diagnosis was 86 the range was ( 10 - 26 ) . Hope this helps .

Hi

Thanks for your information.

Yes I'm on Carbimazole 20mg but only started taking them 2 days ago but feeling really rubbish still.

I think my T4 was exactly the same as yours and he mentioned something else that should be approx 10 and the reading was 115 but I think it was to do with infection or inflammation. I will try and get a copy of my results.

Thanks again

No problem and yes put blood test results on here and start a new post . You will feel rubbish for a while but eventually you will start to feel better . It is a journey that's for sure and all I can say is every time you get bloods done then post on here as many members are very knowledgeable and you will learn a great deal . I found it really difficult at the beginning as I literally couldn't cope with the slightest thing and was shouting my head off and just super anxious all the time . My 17 yo daughter said I was a nightmare to be around ! .Thankfully I feel a lot calmer now . It's difficult for other family members as there's nothing to see to indicate that your not well and I found that frustrating . When you post test results always include ranges , the numbers in brackets . You will get more detailed responses as I am more clued up than I was but by no means an expert .

I hope you feel a little better soon .

I will second that. I was also diagnosed with Graves' disease last November. I had told the doctor during a routine appointment in August that I was feeling unwell, but it went over his head. Only diagnosed as my legs swelled up unbelievably in work one day and ended up in A&E. That is why I think I had no weight loss because of bad water retention, although I lost 4lb quickly in a few days afterwards but I was eating for England. After blood tests a week later I was then diagnosed. I had been feeling so ill for so long, couldn't walk far before overheating and going dizzy, snapping at everyone within shouting range. and saw a specialist fairly quickly. I joined and posted on here when I had my third test results as the readings seem so very complicated to me, but I am learning. Someone said the same, as above, that yes, I will still be feeling rotten, but not as bad, with my levels coming down and told to hang on in there, it really made me feel there was light at the end of the tunnel. There is also a good Facebook page that has helped. I feel that, as most of the symptoms are unseen, that non- sufferers can't understand how awful it is.
