  • Could you do three lots of 50, 7am, 2.30pm, 10pm.

  • Good grief, you need a new Dr.

Dose should only ever be increased by 25mcg at a time.

Sadly Hashimoto's is just not understood by most GP's, or that the gut, gluten and nutrient levels are important

    Do you have high antibodies?

What are you latest test results

  • Yes very high antibodies there results are on here some where

  • Well, post them again, so we don't have to spend hours looking for them.

  • Sadly your gp clearly fails to understand hypothyroid and why people cannot tolerate levothyroxine

    what are your levels of

    ferritin

    folate

    b12

    vitd3

Bcos unless thry are all at least halfway in their ranges your body simply cannot utilise levo and convert it into t3 which every single cell needs to function

tell him we are sn NHS choices website and know whst we are talking about

  • I have my test results on here vitamins and t3

    Thankyou

  • Think they are on PA site.

  • Your antibodies are very high in last test.

Are you managing to stay really gluten free. You need to watch for hidden gluten in things like beer, sausages, soy sauce, marmite, etc Read the labels on any processed food carefully.

If you can't manage increasing the thyroxine up from 75 mcg to 100 mcg in one go, you can take 75mcg one day and 100 mcg next day.

Ask your doctor to check your levels of B12, Folate, vitamin D and ferritin. These are often too low when we have Hashimoto's. They need to be very good, for us to be abe to use the thyroxine

When you get results post them on here

Also thyroxine must be taken on an empty stomach and then nothing apart from water for at least an hour after. (No coffee or tea) Many take on waking, but can be more convenient and recent research, suggests perhaps is more effective taken at bedtime. (Must be at least two hours after eating)

  • Thank you.I have test on her for vitamins there low to

  • Yes keeping guten free only been doing it about 2 weeks can tell it's working no bloating and feel a bit better in my self.still a constipation hope that will clear up to.

    Thank you

  • Magnesium can help with constipation. Also good to take magnesium if you are taking vitamin D supplements.

Magnesium needs to be taken 4 hours apart from taking thyroxine, and better to take afternoon or evening as it can make you feel calm and sleepy.

Start with low dose. Calm vitality magnesium is a powder, that you mix with warm water, easy to adjust dose so you can start very low - Just a 1/4 teaspoon

  • No point taking split doses of levo as it takes days to kick in, not hours. Sounds like your doctor is lost. I'd try a 25 increase every other day to start with (every day if you can tolerate it) and see how you feel in a month. You also need optimum B12, folate, D3 and ferritin to be able to use the levo, so get those tested and report back with all your blood results.

Many people with hashis feel better going gluten-free as it helps to mitigate the autimmune attacks. Also suppressed TSH tends to help with the autoimmune side, as does supplementing selenium.

  • My blood test are on here some where and I have gone gluten free for about 2 weeks.than you

  • Are you still taking Folate supplements, B12 lozenges and iron supplements along with vitamin C?

Folate, ferritin and B12 were low three months ago.

Did you manage to get Dr to test vitamin D levels? Or did you get the private test as recommended by SeasideSusie- - sent by post - costs £28

  • I have got all the tablets I need but I have not started taking them yet.I will start of with one tablet like B12 for a week and keep adding one ever week think mite has well eat live instead of iron tablets. Not very good with tablets did not even take one for a headache.

  • unless you post your results we cant see them

we dont have time to trawl the PA site too

by sound of things you are not helping yourself at all if you have the tabletsbut wont take them

go and buy a pill sorter tray at any chemist or anythings a £1 store and get going

  • You only have to click on Gary's name to see his posts, you don't have to search the PA site.
