My tsh is 6.88 and I clearly need thyroid medication. So I tried Nature thyroid and W P thyroid both giving me muscle tightness and pain. What do you think is going on. Could I have Adrenal Fatigue and making the thyroid not work. Im so confused. Can anyone give me advice.

Nature thyroid and Wp thyroid both making me feel worse.
Hi do you have the ranges for your tsh? Also do you have results for t4 and ranges? Your tsh is what I would say to high. I only understand recently people's blood results when on levothyroxine so cant answer for anything else but your tsh is high. How long have you tried taking those meds for
I wish I knew the answer for you but I know you will get it on here. Even though I don't understand your results as I'm not on same medication your tsh to me is to high. I have not looked at your profile sorry have you been underactive for long? Have you tried levothyroxine?
What does your doctor say Serino01 ? Work with your doctor and take it from there. How long have you been diagnosed hypothyroid ? Alternatives to levothyroxine T4 are typically only trialed if you don't respond to levothyroxine.
If you want to check for adrenal fatigue you may need a synacthen test and your doctor can help you here too.
seems u are under medicated but need a free t3 test if taking ndt meds of any kind and it takes a few months for your body to adjust....and you have to and many times tsh is suppressed on ndt meds of any kind below 1....
someone told me there is a transition period and that is true ...it took me a couple months ormore to feel okay but I have also had muscle tightness in one leg since stopping t4 and don't know if there is a connection hence it has been 6 mths....
some times you can be low in iron or have adrenal issues
I'm suspecting that you might be trying this alone. If so it's a big step to take without your doctor/endocrinologists help. Nothing in the Thyroid world works quickly and many are fine on Levo but they have no need to post on here. Do my first thought is that you may be are trying too much too soon. My apologies if I'm wrong but could you explain a bit more about your background and postcany results and there ranges and I'm sure we shall be able to advise you better.
Looking at your result I would say you probably aren't taking enough Levo medication
All thyroid medication should be started slowly and increased in small increments every 6 weeks after blood tests, ideally for TSH, ft4 and ft3. I am not experienced with ndt but I believe it is normally increased in 1/4 or 1/2 grain increments until symptoms improve.
The TSH level you posted was that prior to starting medication? Did you get repeat bloods after your 4 weeks on nature thyroid? ( due to the long half life of t4 it can take 6 weeks for levels to stabilise in the body, hence 6 weeks between dose change and check bloods). I wonder if you need to start at a lower dose hold for 6 weeks check how you feel plus bloods and then post your results here for further advice.
Goodluck
You're not really giving things enough time. Why the switch from one to the other? You probably won't feel better until you are on the correct dosage, I felt shocking until I was on enough NDT which is 180mg for me. So give it time and gradually up the dosage. If you've been on for 6 weeks you could up now.
Your results show you are undermedicated.
Ask your Dr or whoever is doing your bloods for support.
Thank you for all the replies. So I stopped thyroid medication and gonna get tested for all thyroid panel next week. I'm suspecting my tsh will be even higher then the last test which was 6.88. I stopped because I wanted to see if it was the side effect of nature thyroid or Wp that was giving me leg muscle pain and tightness. Nothing has improved so I guess it can be that I am undermedicated. Should I start with 1 grain of wp thyroid of 88mgs and work my way up half grain after like 2 weeks. My doc said that sometimes people feel good when their tsh is at 6.88 up until 10. I can't believe that. Because all I read here is that tsh should be at 1-2. Any help would be appreciated.
Yes, TSH for most people should be around 1.0. However there are some who show no real symptoms till its sky high (I had one friend whose TSH was in the 40s when he decided to go and see the doctor because he was tired all the time). And those few are the ones that stick in the mind of the doctors when we turn up with our TSH of 'only', in my case, 3.6 or whatever other number you have under 10 but complaining of all the symptoms.
For an in-range FT4 you have quite a high TSH, which may suggest that you are not converting your T4 to T3 very well at all. We really need to see FT3 to know.
I think in your position, (and assuming your doctor isn't a lot of help) I would start again on one or other form of NDT, at half a tablet, and then raise by half each fortnight till you reach 2 tablets, or till you feel good. After that its a quarter tablet at a time, until things change or you reach 3 tablets. Then wait 4-6 weeks and do a full thyroid panel test with Blue Horizon or Medichecks. Don't change medication, and be patient. It takes time, although the T3 in your NDT has a pretty well immediate effect, the T4 is much, much slower. There are no short cuts when it comes to thyroid medication, you just have to go slowly because your body won't be able to handle more until it has adjusted.
If the aches and pains stay, or worsen significantly when you raise the dose then its possibly the medication. Nature throid is generally regarded as one of the better ones for nasty fillers, or lack of them. So I doubt it is that, but anything is possible.
Your body may not be converting the T4 in your NDT meds to the usable form of T3. So even though you are taking it, it isn't able to help you. Be sure you research all the dos and dont's like taking it on an empty stomach an hour from food or drink other than water, etc. But typically if you are having muscle spasms you need to add T3 to your medications. Start with 10 mcg of Cytomel or the generic. If you get jittery, drop back half a grain on your NDT. You should be able to tell a difference in just a few days...
Just wondering
My Reverse T3 is 19.9ng/dL(9.2 - 24.1)
Is this too high. Taking Wp thyroid 88 mags once a day
Tsh 6.88
My question is is the reverse t 3 too high meaning the T3 thyroid is not getting into cells
