Earthing Mat

Hi, Has anyone with thyroid problems had experience of using a grounding sheet/ earthing mat? I am listening to testimonials and want to know if there is any substance to the claims for sleep benefits and pain relief? I'd really like to hear if anyone has used one of these products.

judithclaire I remember this being discussed years ago, worth using the Search function. It's something I've considered but again it's a large expense.

Thanks for that, I'm grateful for the testimonials as this is all new to me and I need to find ways to get sleep at night.

I have the earthing mats and bands all over the house and use them all the time. I broke my back in an auto accident years ago and earthing helps tremendously with my back pain. Earthing helps with inflammation etc.... Once we have warm weather again, you can try sitting outside with your bare feet on the grass for an hour or two and see if any aches and/or pains are temporarily alleviated? Maybe try that before investing in any of the mats/bands/sheets? You can often find the bands on sale and they are very affordable. The book 'Earthing' is on Amazon and might be a good read before purchasing the mats.

Thanks Phoenix, I broke my back too and have thyroid inflammation as well. Neither is as bad as the sleep disturbances, though. Do you use the mat for that? I will certain get the book. Much appreciated.

Hi, Judith. I had terrible sleep problems years ago just before I entered menopause. Taking natural progesterone cream solved that. For a while before I found and learned about progesterone cream, melatonin helped me get drowsy and sleep a little better. So I can't say that earthing helped me with getting and staying asleep. But it absolutely helps my back pain.

Here are a few links to sites that I have purchased earthing products from. I am in the US so can't really steer you to a UK retailer. There is a plug on the earthing products that is inserted into the grounding outlet on the electrical outlet. And... your electrical system HAS to be properly grounded for this setup to work.

Some folks in older homes without adequate grounding can use a metal ground with a wire strung out the window etc (offered by the earthing retailers). Most folks with modern accomodations don't have to worry about that tho. These two links offer an inexpensive ground tester so you can ck out your house wiring. The tester comes as part of a kit in some offerings. Any questions, just holler. :)

Edit.... I don't know how things differ between USA electrical setups and UK setups. I think the earthing link might offer international products.

Thanks for your thoughts. In fact, my husband said that our house is not correctly earthed, as I suspect many UK houses are because of their age. That's very helpful, thanks. We do have 2 devices with wires out the windows!

Yes, I have an earthing sheet and it's wonderful. If I do wake in the night I now get straight back to sleep. My husband has a wrist that aches, but if he rests it on the sheet the aching stops.

Thanks for that. Do you have pain or what was the reason you were waking up?

It's just that my immune system seems to go into overdrive and I can't sleep. I'm wondering if the earth mat would be the right thing to try.
