Are you trying LDN hoping to lower thyroid antibodies, or for another reason?

HiYes to lower antibodies and to improve fatigue and hopefully help with a little weight loss..

My husband is hypothyroid with high thyroid antibodies. Several years ago I talked his Dr. into prescribing LDN for him to try to lower the antibodies. After a year on it, his antibodies weren't increasing but hadn't dropped either. Where we live in the U S, LDN is only available when compounded and it's quite expensive. He decided to stop it at that point. His Dr. said that the studies say, one third of the patients taking it will have success, one third some degree of success and one third no success. Just 6 months ago, I started my husband on selenium supplements. With his most recent blood work 2 weeks ago, his antibodies had dropped by 100 points! This has never happened before.

Hi Amyjay. I’ve been on LDN for ca. a year now to help with pain and inflammation in joints and muscles. I have Hashis, CFS/Fibro arthritis and MCAS ( Mast Cell Activation Syndrome) Started with LDN at 0.5mg and always take it before bed. It definitely revved up my thyroid function so I had to be very careful about increasing dose. After a few months I was finally able to tolerate 1.0mg but I haven’t dared to go any higher since then due to how it affects my thyroid function, although I think it’s recommended to aim for 3.0-4.5mg. The most noticeable effect the LDN has had is on my very painful and inflamed big toe joints due to degenerative arthritis. The pain had hit so bad I couldn’t sleep some nights. If I forget to take the LDN one night I notice it in my toes the next day! I get the LDN through a compounding chemist here in Switzerland. Good luck with trialing it🍀
