Here is what it says about lactose in the FAQs on the WP Thyroid manufacturer's website
Q: Why is there lactose and how much?
A: Lactose is not added to our formula but it is already present in Thyroid USP raw material as a diluent per USP (United States Pharmacopeia). Lactose is not contraindicated for individuals with allergies to dairy, as lactose is a milk sugar (vs. dairy allergies which are caused by proteins in milk). It is, however, contraindicated for individuals with lactose intolerance. We have had many physicians reporting no side effects while using Nature-Throid with lactose intolerant patients. The amount is very small – less than 5 mg. per 1 Grain vs. 12,000 – 15,000 mg. in a typical 8 fl. oz. glass of milk.

Thank you for that info ! Yes I believe it's an ingredient occurring naturally in any NDT
Unless you have a real need to go with the WP Thyroid, I'd opt for the Nature-Throid from same manufacturer as it's so much cheaper.
Only problem is I seem to be really sensitive to the fillers , so I thought WP might be the best bet as it had less . I've only ordered 30 , but that was really expensive and for a hundred it's just under £50 ! It did state that the manufacturer had recently put the prices up .. they're not kidding ! Had a quick look at Nature-Throid , think it had more fillers , but will check again , cos the cost of WP is no joke !
Junep,
You can find the ingredients of WP in this link stopthethyroidmadness.com/a...
You can also find that STTM ignore two strengths (one and a quarter, and one and three quarter grains) and make a big play about lactose - which is not a separate ingredient added by RLC but a constituent of the Thyroid USP that RLC buy.
RLC are quite, quite clear about this and the amount of lactose present.
Yes I noticed that , it does state clearly about lactose . I'm keeping my fingers crossed that WP will suit as it will be the third one ive tried !
Hi Junep - just read your post about WP and Lactose. I'm sensitive to fillers (currently taking Armour & haven't tried any alternative yet) and especially Lactose. Just interested to know if you tried WP & how you found it ? It seems to have the least fillers to contend with, but when I read it contained Lactose I wasn't sure. Real grateful to know how you got on with it. My best
Hi QUE6,
Sadly I found that I seemed to feel bloated on it , so went to TR TMan which for me was the best .
However I've had to stop taking all NDT as I'm not converting , so now on T3 only , and trying to cope with the problems sourcing that brings !
