Thought you might like to see my two rescue dogs enjoying their fire. Maddie is Patterdale/Lab, history unknown, and Renee is Saluki/Greyhound abandoned by travellers on Salisbury Plain.

Lovely dogs and I don't know how people can abandon animals to fend for themselves. At least they are now safe, fed and loved.
Aaaaaarh! I love them! Wonder if this will be subject to a 'crackdown' - a term usually used for bullying, theft, fraud and other types of abuse. Maddie is similar to Wisley, and I WANT RENEE!
Rescue dogs are the best, even when they want to eat every other dog they see on a walk!
I don't seem able to post a photo in a reply or I'd add Reggie, saluki/deerhound (probably) no official history but clearly been abused and possibly a one time bait dog. He's been here 18 months and still flinches if I move my hand suddenly.
How awful that the dog has been so mistreated that he still flinches. It's good he now has a warm, friendly, and secure home.
I know, and there are lots of them out there, sadly.
We fostered a little whippet cross (little in comparison to Reg) who had been so badly treated that he would start with the biting and ask questions later, if we did anything scary. We worked out he had been shut up in a small space, something like an understairs cupboard, and beaten with a broom stick or similar. I learned so much from him about treating dogs with respect! If I needed to put his lead on for a walk I would ask permission - and anything else was pretty much a no-no! It took three days to change his collar to something more suitable when he arrived.
He would still be here if he had got on with my top dog! The more challenging they are the more we love them.
Absolutely gorgeous! They are very lucky girls and they do know it!! Best Wishes Pixiewixie.
