I'm currently on Liothyonine Sodium, I believe but am not sure that this is slow release t3? Has anyone had experience with this?
What is Direct release T3?: I'm currently on... - Thyroid UK
What is Direct release T3?
This is just the name for t3. If it is slow release it should say so on the bottle (slow release or sustained release). I think generally in the thyroid-support community (if that is a thing ) the standard version is thought to be more useful. Dr Lowe and Paul Robinson both prefer(red) standard if I'm not mistaken.
Thanks for clarifying puncturedbicycle , I am a little confused in that people were discussing taking direct t3 sublingually - I'm not convinced you can do that with the stuff I am on; Uni - Pharma Liothyronin sodium. Do you have any experience with that?
Duh, so sorry, I didn't take in the title of your post. I have googled 'direct release' but don't really see any definition of that or which version it is. Mine says liothyronine sodium. Will check if there is any other indication on it.
Hmm, I agree that the sublingual method is contentious. I believe the molecule is too large to be absorbed and any additional benefit might be from allowing the tablet to dissolve in your mouth - ? I seem to remember helvella having something to say about this. You may be able to do a site search via google (something like sublingual t3 site:healthunlocked.com/thyroiduk) as the search facility here is terribly awkward.
It is T3, but unless it states specifically that it is time release, it is normal T3. I am on T3 only. How long have you been taking it, how much, and when? Sorry, more questions than answers......cue a song......
Seriously though, this info will enable you to get more relevant advice and support.
Thanks marram , I am on 50 µg (in two separate doses one at 4am and one at around midday) I also take 2 grains of NDT split at those times as well. I thought that meant I was on 50 mcgs a day but can’t figure our the conversion of µg to mcg as I have just read its not the same as mg or ug??? I have been on this regime since June this year. Having slowly upped the dose, I think I may still not be optimally medicated so I am waiting for some blood results.
Thank! R x
