First of all ask your GP receptionist for your TSH and FT4 results and ranges (the figures in brackets after the results). Normal is a very broad range and it isn't the same as optimal which is what we as hypothyroid patients require.
If TSH and FT4 are optimal you could ask your GP to test FT3 but either your GP or the lab will probably decline because FT3 is rarely tested in primary care. If so you can order private thyroid tests yourself.
