Matcha Tea?

I've been hearing wonderful things about matcha tea such as it's good for low energy and for weight loss.

This would be ideal for me as I'm hypothyroid, overweight and looking for a midafternoon pick me up.

Has anyone else tried it? it's horribly expensive and I don't want to waste my money .

When you're hypo, the only thing that's going to be good for your energy and weight loss, is an optimal level of FT3. I wouldn't waste your money, if I were you.

Yes you are probably right. As I can't get the necessary tests or anything other than levothyroxine , I'm always looking for anything that might help.

That's a very generous offer and thank you . I don't live in the UK so wouldn't want to put you to the expense. I have tried a lot of different teas, just was curious about the claims being made for matcha .

If you're a fan of green tea, matcha is not dissimilar but has a distinctive tasty that takes time to get used to! However it does contain natural caffeine but not the same kick that coffee gives. I drank it for months before being diagnosed hypothyroid but it does help with brain fog and concentration but on the times that I drank it after dinner I was awake for hours past bedtime. Sadly, it didn't help with weight loss at all but levothyroxine and gluten free diet have been helping. Don't worry things will get sorted.

Thanks Daisy, if it helps with brain fog that's a definite plus. I tried gluten free for a while but didn't notice a benefit . I gave up drinking anything with caffeine later than 2pm each day as I also suffered from insomnia . I'm hoping if I had a bit more energy I could be more active which would help with the weight problem. Maybe I'll buy a small amount and give it a try.

Hi rosemaryanne I found green tea with matcha better than matcha by itself! Be careful with the exercise. I know that it takes a cumulative effect in a negative way 😕and have lost weight by getting levo right and having protein shakes for two meals a day followed by a nourishing wellbalanced evening meal for a few weeks at a time.

Thanks Daisy I'll bear that in mind. I'm in no danger of overdoing the exercise . would just like to be able to drag myself off the sofa!
