Hi I've been wondering the same?
I have found some things that may cause your Levothyroxine to stop working and these are:
Almonds, Peanuts
Swede, Sweetcorn, Brasisca types, Sprouts
Soya and some Calcium products
More info can be sourced here: btf-thyroid.org/information...
Thank you very much for your reply. Really appreciated.
We also now know that foods with goitrogenic properties (brassica's) are more of a problem for people who eat large quantities of them and who are not on thyroid hormone replacement. And that not all goitrogens affect all hypos. And I can tell you from experience that cooking them does not help at all if you are particularly sensitive to them.
There's also the fact that it's not just brassica's that are goitrogenic, there are a load of other things that you probably eat frequently and don't even know that you're eating a goitrogen!
Hence my reason for saying only stop eating something if it doesn't agree with you. Cutting out a whole heap of foods - or only eating the cooked (who wants cooked strawberries?!?) - is unnecessary.
The only exception to that is unfermented soy. Because that not only affects the thyroid gland, but works at a cellular level, and therefore affects the hormone that you are taking orally.
Avoid Soya at all costs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
