Getting t3 from a gp in the West Midlands

I saw a new endo in the West Midlands who has said he may prescribe t3 at my next appointment but am I right in thinking that my gp has to supply the prescription for it and that it will be down to funding if I actually get it.

Grateful for any replies so many thanks πŸ˜„

Hi Silver...that sounds encouraging but not sure why endo didn't prescribe at that time? Anyway, I found that once the endo instructed gp to prescribe I have been able to get T3 from gp without problem...it's now on repeat for me and I picked up three month supply yesterday. Fingers crossed for you πŸ˜€

Hi Frumpty thank you for your reply. I've got everything crossed then that I will get the t3 ok once prescribed. Endo didn't prescribe in August cause I had been feeling reasonably well but not so good again at the moment. It's encouraging to hear that you are getting t3 without a problem. I had come across some posts on here which suggested it was difficult to get it even after endo had prescribed it but think they were from sometime ago.

Hope you are keeping well thanks again for your reply πŸ˜„πŸ˜„

Hi Silver...have to say I am a different person on combination of t4 and t3. I feel so well I sometimes forget to take a dose in the afternoon.

I find the biggest impact has been mental...it's hard to describe but I don't find myself obsessing about my health, I think so much clearer. Losing some of the podge is a bonus!

Really got fingers crossed for you...It does seem a bit of a regional lottery in getting t3 but think we're in the same location πŸ˜€

Hi Frumpty how are you today? I have just re read your post to me yesterday and as I said it's given me hope that t3 will work for me.

What symptoms did you have before you got t3 t4 combination treatment? I think the worse thing I'm feeling is the constant aching mainly in my arms and legs. I constantly feel like my body is on the go slow!! Also my face feels and I think looks swollen. My one eye was definitely puffy the other day.

Hope you don't mind me asking and hope today is a good day for you πŸ˜„πŸ˜„

Hi Silver,

Sorry for late reply...been a busy few days..which luckily I can cope with!

I was pretty bad with symtpoms before the addition of T3. Muscle pains in arms and legs, dry skin and eyes, terrible fatigue, mental fog was really bad and that kind of just can't be bothered with anything feeling...oddly I also had really bad palpitations, which seems counter to being hypo.

The difference is so marked...I've actually started renovating my house, I also work full time and haven't had a day off...I rarely think about how I feel now, because I just feel 'normal'. I definitely had that 'puffy' look around my face, which has gone, not sure if that is because I've lost some weight or just water is now more balanced.

The endo told me that T3 is thought to be placebo...well, I don't care what it is, so long as I can continue to feel well. i don't think T3 is a cure all, but for me it has really worked.

Hope you can at least get a trial and it has a good result. I found it took a bit of time for it to get balanced, think my system was a bit shocked to start with, but slow and steady really worked.

Take care and fingers crossed. : )

Hi Frumpty thank you for taking the time to reply to me. So glad you have had such good results with t3 it is certainly giving me hope. I have a lot of the symptoms you describe and it's getting me down. Like you I wouldn't care if the t3 was purely a placebo effect as long as I felt 'normal' but what the heck is that!!!

Hope your weekend is good take care x
