Cytomel- HELP!

Hey! I'm new to this site. Have taken Synthroid for many years. Never felt 100% but just delt with it. Saw a new dr in my drs office ...she put me on Cytomel...wow I felt a difference. I went for my check up and she is no longer there! (She moved back to her home state). My old school dr said he never prescribes Cytomel. So now I'm off Cytomel and feel blah again. My insurance only pays for me to see this practice. So I was wondering where I can purchase Cytomel (or generic). I imagine you can't post replies to me ab this but if someone could PM me. Thank you so much! Just want to feel like me again.

I am sorry your doctor moved and the other doesn't want to prescribe. They've been given guidelines that only the TSH is of value when testing and that levo must be prescribed and that's what Big Pharma wants, more money through levo and blood tests.

What a pity your back to square 1 but I'm sure you'll get some responses.

You will be anxious to feel well again.

Thank you. It's very frustrating. And my old school doctor doesn't see the need and just raised my Synthroid. That really didn't help. Hopefully someone will be able to point me in the right direction. Thank you for your message!

Unfortunately, if doctors want to stay ignorant it is us, the patient, who suffers if levo doesn't improve our symptoms or gives us more. I think in the USA, Associations and doctors are rewarded if they prescribe levothyroxine (Synthroid).

This is a useful site for information. It is archived now and other links are at the top of the page, some links within may not work. Dr Lowe was an American Scientist/doctor and an Adviser to Thyroiduk.org.uk before his untimely death. He would never prescribe Synthroid and said it was all down to a 'marketing' ploy plus incentives.

I felt better on Cytomel too.... many doctors have no clue how to treat a thyroid. I was buying Cytomel, but I just don't know where to find it anymore. Any suggestions on where I could get some would be much appreciated.

Thanks 😊
