Can't stop weeing! - small multi doses for 1 day.

Sorry if I keep asking questions on here but Im really getting frustrated over time. I think I know the right thing and then it isn't etc etc.

Anyway, advice please. Ive been diagnosed hypothyroid for 6 years. Ive gone from thyroxine to seeing Dr P, to going on T3, to finding out I have hashis, to now being referred to an endocrinologist by my GP because I think he's sick of me asking. My GP just doesn't want to know about T3 so I think he did it to get me off his back.

So, endo agreed to my dosage of T3 but said to double it which I have been finding very hard. I take it in about 2 or 3 portions through the day but when I start getting near double, my ankles and feet swell and I generally feel hot and uncomfortable. So back down I go to the original dose knowing that I just need to persevere, after all the endo knows my figures and has told me to double it.

Yesterday I was fed up of feeling swollen and remembered about advice re increasing the dose by quite minute amounts and so thats what I did. Yesterday I took about 6.25mcg every couple of hours until I got to near the dose Ive been trying to get to.

Last night I couldn't stop going to the loo and it wasn't a water infection. Today the same. Its like the floodgates have been opened!

Does anyone think that for me, I might have found the answer, that I just need to take in quite a few doses of small amounts? That Im actually releasing all this water retention?

Worryingly I also had a visual migraine this afternoon. When I was first diagnosed I had one of them and that is how I was diagnosed. Of course Im also worried still that that happened but at the same time encouraged by the floodgates.

I know its early days if this is the answer but whereas I feel constantly weighed down with heaviness, I feel lighter and my joint pain is reduced....I don't get it. In just one day of dosing differently?

Anyone have any views on this?

Yup, the only way I lost the water weight was after adding t3, and like you it all went at once, whoosh. I woke up one morning, went to the loo (after months of awful constipation, finally resolved) and looked at myself in the mirror and my face was entirely different, my trousers were loose etc. What a revelation. I didn't spend all day weeing, but I reckon I lost half a stone in fluid. I am no longer constipated so there must be something to the fluid leaving the tissue and some of it being excreted in the gut (as it should be) and on levo alone that process was not working normally.

Just a thought, the endo doesn't know more than you do about whether or not you feel well. You may want to persevere w the extra t3 and see how you go, but after a fair trial you may decide you feel better on less. Keep an eye on your heart rate and temp and that will also give you some guidance on where you are w t3.

Thank you. I have been on T3 for about 2 years but never had the reaction I had from the small amounts I dosed with yesterday. Do you think that might be the answer? Lots of little amounts? Does it sound feasible?

I think that is up to you. I wasn't able to do well on small doses - I had a lot of energy crashes and other symptoms and I often forgot to take my later doses - but maybe that's the way you'll get to your optimum dose. It certainly is feasible, a lot of folk split their doses. Equally once you're on the recommended dose you may be able to go back and take fewer doses throughout the day. You might be able to just take it twice, or even once depending on how much you're taking.

I found this problem with supplementing Vitamin B12.. .....

Are you saying that taking B12 helped too or just that it made you go to the loo a lot. If it gets rid of all the fluid then surely that's a good thing too?

Made me go to the loo a lot 😕 It was annoying as it disturbed me at night too. I thought it was a wee infection so I went to the doctor's to be checked. Even took a course of antibiotics as a precaution for nothing.

That was Jarrows, now trying Thorne Basic.

Ovarian cyst? Get to your GP And tell them. Get an ultrasound.

Why do you say that re ovarian cyst? I have been very puffy with fluid re hypo and just see it as being released?

Because exactly the same thing happened to me, and my reason for frequent urination was a mass on my ovary. Cysts and worse cause frequent urination, we all assume everything is down to the thyroid but sometimes it isn't.

However having Hashimotos predisposes us to ovarian cysts.
