This is such a good video by James McCormack about polypharmacy plus it's my all-time favourite song! The information within the presentation is very good so you may need to watch it twice and pause in certain areas.

Such an incredibly important message and a brilliant parody. Who doesn't love Bohemian Rhapsody! Should be COMPULSORY viewing for ALL prescribing medics.

On the same subject, second part of BBC 1's programme The Doctor Who Gave Up Drugs is on this Thursday evening (22nd September).

The first part is currently available on iPlayer here:

The first part was very good, although I was incredibly frustrated by the cynical GP!

Lyn, when you've watched it, you may consider it worthwhile contacting the Dr (on the TV) as he may be interested in thyroid health issues. As you are well aware, many of us find our health improves with vit D, B12, lifestyle and diet changes Instead of the antidepressants offered.

In my view, very well worth watching both.

Good find, Lyn, it's frightening how many drugs are prescribed to deal with the adverse effects caused by other drugs.

Indeed!

Queen have so many tracks that (at least from their titles) could be used in a similar vein:

All Dead, All Dead

Another One Bites the Dust

Blurred Vision

Death on Two Legs

Dead On Time

I Can't Live With You

Is This the World We Created...?

Who Wants to Live Forever

You Take My Breath Away

...

Funny how medics are unwilling to prescribe a single unlicensed medicine, no matter the actual experience - but are happy to prescribe untold combinations which have far less, or even absolutely no or negative, scientific backing. The word licence (however spelled!) is only an administrative document and lack of it can be for purely (or mostly) administrative reasons.

I harp on, but most medicines are not expressly licensed for children. So a huge proportion of paediatric prescriptions are off licence.

Most of them have never been fully tested on women either.

Ironically that doesn't seem to stop them being licensed - for men and women.
