Should I be concerned about the fact it has talc and titanium fillers?
Fillers in thyroid S: Should I be concerned about... - Thyroid UK
Fillers in thyroid S
I am not certain, but Armour Thyroid contains Opadry white and it looks as if that also contains titanium dioxide.
Vast numbers of food and medicine products contain titanium dioxide - it is known as E171.
Erfa Thyroid contains talc.
Perhaps more importantly, we do not have access to the official list of ingredients of Thyroid S. Only some contradictory information that has somehow surfaced on the Stop The Thyroid Madness website.
On their fb site it does list all the ingredients and Thiroyds too, this is where I got it from. Mind you i think I am over thinking this!
It depends on how you react to the medication. The excipients, or the fillers, are those which are deemed safe in the doses they are to be found in the tablets. However, one's reaction to them is purely individual. For example I was advised by my endo to swap Thyroid-S for Nature-throid to see if the difference in excipients (Nature-throid has fewer contentious ones) was better for me. It was. Most of us on here will have autoimmune problems - both Grave's and Hashi's are autoimmune malfunctions, so different excipients can cause problems for different people. Whatever is in Nature-throid agrees with me better than whatever is in Thyroid-S, but many people are fine on Thyroid-S. I shouldn't worry about it, but more concentrate on how the medication affects you - if you feel better on it, or as well as you might and so on, and take it from there.
Thanks that is helpful. I note Thiroyd doesn't have these fillers, I might try this later. Mind you I am feeling much better so I should go on that!
I would be. Why?
because of the following:

fishersci.com/shop/msdsprox... data safety sheet
When I first went on Thyroid-S, I asked myself the very same questions, but I have been doing so well on it that I decided to stop worrying...true, it's manufactured in Thailand where the same rigorous standards may not apply as in Europe or the US but, given how good I feel (I have been on it for about eight months), I will stay on it it...at least for the time being. I tried both Armour and Erfa before that (bought with prescription from Belgian pharmacies), felt good on both for a while but then they seemed to stop working...so far, Thyroid-S seems very potent but also stable. I read somewhere it contains a sustained-release component and don't know if that has anything to do with it but...so far so good!
As someone pointed out, Erfa contains talc, and NP Thyroid contains mineral oil...
The reason I chose Thyroid-S over Thiroyd was simply because I found UK supplier for it. It's more expensive, but I don't have to worry about customs (I have had shipments from Thailand confiscated in the past and don't want to have to worry every time I place an order...).
Please could you pm me the UK supplier of Thyroid S?
