misha008 Anti - thyroid Microsomal Ab test is the Anti Thyroid Peroxidase test (anti TPO) and that has come back with a result of 342.3 and it says Positive. The result is over range, although no range is given it wouldn't say Positive if it was under range, it would have said Negative.
This means that you are positive for TPO antibodies so you have autoimmune thyroid disease aka Hashimoto's. Hashi's isn't treated (which is probably why it says No Action Required). Hashi's gradually destroys the thyroid gland and it is the resulting hypothyroidism is treated.
You can help yourself by doing what you can to reduce the antibody attacks. Adopting a strictly gluten free diet is one way and many members have found this helps enormously. Gluten contains gliadin which is a protein that triggers the antibody attacks. It has to be 100% gluten free, no cheating, as the slightest bit of gluten will cause problems for a long time. Some people also need to be dairy free. Supplementing with selenium can also help reduce the antibody attacks as will a suppressed TSH.
Thanks Seaside Susie, Right - I now know what I have to deal with and will start getting around a gluten free diet. This is going to be a major lifestyle change for me. Need to adjust to that idea.
Really appreciate your help/advice. I feel I am getting slightly stronger in being able to deal with this because of the help on this forum!
You may also want to try cumin oil.I put a teaspoon in porridge .My antibodies have come down alot but still over the limit. .I cannot say the cause is the cumin but much is claimed for it.
