Hydrocortisone 1% cream is non prescription in the UK, and is what most people with adrenal insufficiency seem to use. I imagine any UK online pharmacy would be happy to ship.
Try pharmacy2u.co.uk
Thank you!
If you mean hydrocortisone tablets... are you self-treating? Have you ever taken them before? Whilst I am all for people self-treating with thyroid hormone replacement, I really would not advise doing the same with HC. You really need a doctor who knows what he's doing.
From my experiences, a doctor who knows what he's doing is a bit of an oxymoron. 😉
Oh, I totally agree. But that still doesn't mean that people should self-treat with HC.
I absolutely agree in the huge majority of cases. Unfortunately we can't know details from a simple post. I certainly wouldn't like to imply I was being blase about HC treatment, to be honest it was simply the 'oxymoron' I saw in your past that struck a deep chord with me. 😉
have researched my condition for years and am in the position where I have absolutely no choice but to treat myself (with hydrocortisone). I have deteriorated so much in the last few years while waiting for help from NHS and have found myself in a position where I seem to know an awful lot more about my condition than the 3 endocrinologists I have seen. Not very different to most of you here 😉, except that I'm having to self treat with hydrocortisone and that is really scary.
I know some doctors have made some very unsafe HC recommendations that have caused a lot of problems and that is probably the main reason that people like myself, who really do need it, can't get treated.
I would never recommend anyone self treat with hydrocortisone without doing an awful lot of research and having a deep understanding of what they are doing and why. Even then, not unless it is totally necessary.
It's not something to be messed with, I am in full agreement with you on that.
And it's precisely because I know nothing about this person - she's new to the forum, gives no details on her profile - that I would not tell her where she can buy HC.
Most doctors don't know anything much about it, but then neither do the majority of people that want to try it. But, I think there should at least be a doctor involved somewhere, in case anything goes wrong.
