Interesting article on hashimoto

I am not much of an expert and maybe for most of you, it is old news, but in case it is not, here is an article from the American thyroid association :

thyroid.org/patient-thyroid...

Would be interested in your input.

Thanks

I had a thyroid nodule biopsy done and the findings were "lymphocytic thyroiditis" aka hashimotos and have all the symptoms, but the antibodies were negative and TSH 0.01. My endo refused that I have hashi's. So I found a new doc and am being further tested and treated as if I have hashi's. Articles like this remind me that I'm not mad and am on the right track.

Maybe you should bring this article to your doctor. Mine told me that my dropping t3 was irrelevant and does not want to increase my Levothyroxine. She is a nice GP but such statements just drive me mad. When I asked her about her thoughts in my t3, she said that what was important was that my TSH had dropped from above 4 to 1.87, yet, I still feel crappy! Good luck.

I stopped seeing her after she said looking further into my thyroid and testing was a waste of time and money, as in my gut I knew thyroid tests were the right thing to do. I've started seeing another doc that is much more helpful. At the first visit, she took one glance at the biopsy and my bloodwork and said it was hashimotos, possible early stages so I didn't have antibodies yet, but to retest soon, sticking with her. But you're right, maybe I should still send it to the old one so she does not say the same to someone else in the future.

I am glad you found a good doctor :) hopefully you will be able to recover fast since it is in its early stage. From reading here, I understand that adopting a gluten free diet will help to recover faster and as well or possibly dairy free. My doctor though has offered to give me b12 injection every other week and I supplement with a good complex b and a sublingual methylcobolamin b12. I am sure you have read that already in this forum. Thanks for sharing your info.
