Advice on where to buy armour please without a prescription ?

Michymo You won't be able to get the Armour brand without prescription. Other NDTs are available without prescription but have to be purchased from overseas.

I have bought mine for many years from <online source> in the USA on the recommendation of Dr Barry Peatfield. More recently (on the pharmacy advice) I have been buying the make Nature Thyroid as they do bottles of 30 tabs. I was always paying Customs duty on Armour as they are larger bottles and therefore more expensive. I buy 2 bottles at a time now. Nature Thyroid also have in between doses. I was well on 2 grains until I had Tropicamide eye drops at the opticians to dilate the pupils. 3 hours later I went into Atrial fibrillation - a heart flutter - which is a very rare side effect. I had to lower the dose to 1.5 grains and was always tired. Nature Thyroid do 1.75 grains which I now take and I'm much better and blood results fine.

I used to be prescribed Thyroxine (T4) and Liothyronine which is T3. A new GP joined the practice and stopped the T3. Disaster as I wasn't converting T4 to T3 and became unable to work. I was nursing. I saw Dr Peatfield at that point. My GP knows I'm on natural thyroid and monitors my bloods annually.

Note that it says "recommends" not '"requires"

Many overseas Armour suppliers want you to fax a prescription.

I do not know what the MHRA is.

And for the United States:

"<online source> does not ship within the United States. As an export house, our license limits us to shipping U.S. drugs from the U.S. to outside of the U.S. only."

Just my luck, I know exactly where this place is and live pretty close. Once I e-mailed them and asked if I could buy Armour OTC - they said they only ship outside the US.

MHRA = Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency
