Are you talking about the TSH blood test result ? If so it needs to be around 1 or under I have read. Thyroxine/T4 should not be reduced on the TSH reading alone. You also need the FT4 and FT3 - only if the latter is over range are you over medicated. How do you feel ? That is more important but rarely considered by GP's as it was in the good ol' days :-)

I feel drained, no energy but doctors say it's my age (64) ! Not convinced. My TSH was 0.4 and I take 100 mg thyroxine. Never heard of FT4 or FT3 until I read this today. I had a thyroidectomy , at least I think that's what they called it 15 years ago and been on Thyroxine ever since.

When someone blames your age it is time to move on from those people :-) The T4 is the tablet you are taking - it is a storage hormone and needs to convert into the ACTIVE thyroid hormone T3 - which is needed in every one of the trillions and trillions of cells in your body.

For a good conversion of T4 into T3 and for you to feel well - you also need good levels of FERRITIN - FOLATE - B12 - VITD. So have them tested and post the results here in a new post for people to comment.

As you have no thyroid - I think adding some T3 to your T4 may help you to feel better :-)

If your GP is not co-operative in organising the much needed tests then I would suggest having them done privately through the above link. Bundle 11 is the most popular I have read on this forum. Test kits sent to your home and the results sent to you by e-mail - nothing could be simpler and may help you to unravel the mysteries of the thyroid :-)

Best advice is to read as much as you can........Especially on here

Vitamin and minerals levels are very important, but standard NHS thinking, doesn't at the moment seem to recognise this.

You will see, time and time again on here lots of information and advice about importance of good levels of B12, folate, ferritin and vitamin D, leaky gut and gluten connection to autoimmune Hashimoto's or Graves too.

Assume you know that Levo generally should be taken on empty stomach and no food or drink for at least hour after. Many of us take on waking, some prefer bedtime, either as more convenient or perhaps more effective. No other medications at same time, especially iron or magnesium, these must be at least 4 hours away
