Sever Muscle Stiffness and pain.....normal?

Help!

I had the most horrendous evening and had no idea what to do to try get some relief.

I have for a long time now suffered with muscle stiffness which effects hips, calves predominantly but last night it was unbearable and it felt like all muscles from lower back through to hips, quads, hamstrings, calves and feet were going to snap with any form of stretching I tried to relieve the pain. They are so tight and painful, kept me up all night and finding it very difficult to move today. It is a very difficult pain and sensation to describe and at best I guess its like losing all form of flexibility from hips down. I try stretch as much as possible each day but rather than relief its feels like I'm less able to stretch the more I do....if that makes any sense. This is the worst it has ever been and I have no idea if this is linked to hypothyroidism or not.

Eventually at 2.30am I decided to sit in a hot bath and that seems to help the muscles to loosen up a little...however now I can feel them tighten right back up again.

Any similar experiences or understanding of what and why is going on would be very much appreciated.

Thank you as always

x

Tiamosta,

Do you know what your thyroid and vitamin D levels are? Low thyroid and vitamin D deficiency can cause musculoskeletal pain. Epsom salts in the bath and magnesium oil spray can relax tight muscles.

Hi Clutter,

Thank you - I will send these through later as have the detail at home but essentially yes low in both - not on medication as yet newly diagnosed and endo has requested biopsy of thyroid and MRI of pituitary which is happening this afternoon. Once results back he said we would then discuss treatment.

Tiamosta,

If you can't get it in Boots try Amazon.

I got it from Amazon and it has been amazing for my chronically tight calfs (calves? Don't want to sound like I've got tight cows!). Definitely try it!

Do either of you mind recommending a brand please...as there seem to be many available on Amazon and not too sure where to start or what to be looking for in the 'right' product.

much appreciated x

Thank you Both!!

I have also come across this link to an article which provides a very good explanation of what's going on....

dynamicchiropractic.com/mpa...

Also read somewhere today that drinking apple cider vinegar helps relieve the tightness too.

I got Seven Minerals Magnesium Oil from Amazon. They have a money back guarantee but it's not the cheapest you can get. Definitely worked though!

I'm having similar issues, but I'm getting stabbing pains from my thighs down to my feet. Sometimes I just get restless legs, but even as I right this I'm getting shooting pains in my thighs and knees. When I go the doctors they tell me I need to rest!?! Single working mum of 2! Yeah! How do I do that?!?
