This may seem like a silly question but how do distinguish between hyper and hypo symptoms. The reason I ask is in the symptom lists there are some that appear in both hypo and hyper. How do you know when hypo becomes hyper? Thanks

How can I tell if symptoms are hypo or hyper
Debra135,
Unless your FT4 or FT3 are high in range or over range it is unlikely that your symptoms are hyper although having low ferritin/iron can make you feel hyper and hypo at the same time.
Sometimes your temp and pulse can indicate hyper, i.e. your temp would be too high as would your pulse. Usually, I believe you'd sweat and feel uncomfortable.
When hypo and undiagnosed, our pulse is low and temp too and with levo both should rise although may not come back to what was normal for you but you'd feel well.
Thanks guys. re temp and pulse. I do sweat sometimes but I think its linked to the menopause and stress. If I feel even slightly stressed I get a hot flush like experience. I was thinking of getting a test for my adrenals at some point. Though may wait until I've seen the endo in sept.
It can be very difficult to tell the difference. My heart rate and temp are always about the same regardless of whether my tests show me to be high or low, and my other symptoms can be very subtle.
