Hi, I'm going to give Naturethroid a go, I'm on 100mcg levothyroxine, I would be very grateful to hear people's experiences of doing this and whether I am best to to straight switch (to 1grain?) or to clear my system of Levo for a couple of weeks before I start? Or perhaps a lower starting dose. Many thanks for any advice.
Switching to ndt: Hi, I'm going to give... - Thyroid UK
Switching to ndt
Hey, I was on 75mcg and switched to 1grain of thiroyd the next day in 2 doses. Extra 1/2 grain every other week at a pm dose (my body didn't really like a whole grain at night for a long time but it seemed to have accepted the inevitable after a couple of months) and felt amazing within the first week.
Now I'm on 2 grains a day (I know right? it seems like a lot more than on straight levo! but I feel great on this dose) and going to get a BH thyroid 11 panel soon to see what's going on (you should test after you're steady for about 6 weeks).
It's good to keep a heart rate and body temp journal/ have a good idea so you can judge whether you are going completely over the top or need more.
I went from 100 levo to 1 grain naturethroid overnight. After 4 weeks my bloods indicated an increased dose so I moved to 1.5 grains per day
It changed my life for the better. Took about a year to get back to full normal but it suits me far better than just levo and mopped up my remaining symptoms.
I do have the di02 gene snp
