Your previous post showed very low B12, low folate and low Vit D. All need to be at good levels for your thyroid hormones to work.

Are you supplementing? If so how much

Have these been rechecked recently to see if levels are improving?

If GP won't then, like many of us, you can get done privately

Blue Horizon - Thyroid plus eleven tests all these

Heel pain is symptom of being hypo - plantar fasciitis

Dr wants me to try to increase B12 and vitamin D through diet, retest levels next month, I also take 5mg of folic acid daily...

Sorry to hear you're in pain. Believe me when I say if your d is very low you will never get enough d through diet unless maybe if you're living on oily fish all day and night, and if your b12 is low for long enough it can cause permanent damage.

My sore and numb feet improved dramatically with b12 injections.

Linny17 - when Hypo - our absorption is impaired so your Docs advice is not adequate I am afraid. You need to supplement as most of us here do.

She's going to check my absorption in the next lot of blood tests, before going to Injections,

Marz in reply to Linny17

.... how does she check if you are absorbing ? I think from looking at your results we can see that you are possibly not doing so !

I can't remember the exact name, this k it something like intrinsic absorption level, on blood test.

....sorry Linny17 - am none the wiser :-) Guess we will have to wait for your results ....

Do you know if you have you had thyroid antibodies checked? There are two sorts TPO Ab and TG Ab. (Thyroid peroxidase and thyroglobulin) Both need checking, if either, or both are high this means autoimmune thyroid - called Hashimoto's - most common cause of being hypo. NHS rarely checks TPO and almost never checks TG.

Hashimoto's can compromise your ability to absorb nutrients ....hence low minerals and vitamins. very unlikely diet will improve levels much. Though Vitamin D getting out in sunshine may help a little in summer, but not significantly.

These low levels can be due to low acid - causing acid reflux.

Also many with Hashimoto's have gluten issues. If you have Hashimoto's then you may find adopting 100% gluten free diet can help reduce symptoms, and lower antibodies too.

Make sure you get the actual figures from tests (including ranges - figures in brackets). You are entitled to copies of your own results. Some surgeries make nominal charge for printing out. Alternatively you can now ask for online access to your own medical records. Though not all surgeries can do this yet, or may not have blood test results available yet online, but all should be doing this with couple of years.

When you get results suggest you make a new post on here and members can offer advise on any vitamin supplements needed

If you can not get GP to do these tests, then like many of us, you can get them done privately

Blue Horizon - Thyroid plus eleven tests all these.

This is an easy to do fingerprick test you do at home, post back and they email results to you couple of days later.

My feet hurt too 😕 they puff up and my ankles look like they've disappeared! I'm thinking the same as everyone else and you need to get your levels checked. I've just ordered tests from Blue Horizon as doc is reluctant to do mine again.

Can I ask, do you get any swelling? I seem to be blowing up like a ballon mostly my legs, feet, hands and face.

Hi yes my feet, hands and cankles swell.

I'm incredibly lucky as my gp surgery is brilliant..

Terrible pain getting out of bed in the morning or from sitting too long, mainly in feet but it is in the legs as well. Body feels like I have done an assault course in my sleep. Oh and Nuttymummyoffour , I get swelling all over as well, all the places you mentioned as well as my arms! R x

It might be plantar fasciitis, which is a common symptom of hypothyroidism.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plant...

It is mentioned as a symptom on this page :

stopthethyroidmadness.com/l...

I had this problem and I remember how excruciating it was. I got better. I believe the thing that helped was having enough T3.

Hi lindy,I used to but not anymore. This was the symptom that prompted my gp to test for a thyroid problem. I was started on 75 levo and had physio exercises to do. I no longer have aches in my feet but have since been diagnosed with diabetes insipidus as well as hypothyroidism due to a cyst on my pituitary which was only discovered when I lost my peripheral vision.

Magnesium spray helped mine and soaking feet in warm water with Epsom salts. x

I agree with others on B12 and Vit D3 ( take Vit K2 mk7 with Vit D and/or calcium essential). x

I have begun to have this problem in one of my feet recently. I feel I am due a dose increase as recently started medicating with T4/T3 combination, but waiting for blood test results before increasing the dose.

Hopefully when I am optimally medicated this problem will reduce.

Also get pain in wrist every now and then - so painful it feels dislocated, then pain goes away as quick as it came after massaging. Don't know if there's any connection.

If you write a new post and ask for sources for T3 I'm sure you will get some responses. I haven't bought T3 for a long time so don't have any up-to-date sources I would trust.

The T3 enquiry wasn't from me but from a comment on my question by anonymous21

Yes, I know, sorry. I often forget to mention the name I'm responding to.
