Over medicated..

Too start off I'm one of the rare ones that was born without a thyroid gland, I've been taking medicine all my life and am 36yrs old. Recently I changed endocrinologist cause I just felt my Dr who was highly recommend and supposedly the best has had me over medicated these last 2 yrs. I always put my trust in her never questioning my symtoms or how I was feeling the last two years. I was treated more for my labs then how I felt. After going through bouts of high anxiety, sudden weightloss due to it, and rapid heartbeat with insomnia I feel like my body one day just said ENOUGH.. And then it all hit me like a storm. I went to see a new dr who discovered I had been given way too much levothyroxin 200mg at only a 130 lbs which explains why an increase of my anxiety went up the roof. I've now been down to 150 mg and feel a little better with my heart rate but my anxiety still lingers. I believe my Dr is dropping my dosage in small increments till we get balanced out. After all this I've worried about how much stress I've put on my heart and now realize the popping in my knees is probably from boneloss. I've always been active but these last 4weeks took a toll on me. Slowly but surely I'll get better. Had an EKG done twice both showed no abnormalities. Being from Texas in my town we have a very small amount of endos so I'm really hoping he'll listen to me and help me get back to being regulated.

Very good news that you have an doctor who will treat symptoms rather than labs. That said... :)

Do you know what your labs were? I'm not sure that I agree that 200mcg of levo must be too much based on your weight alone. Did you have FT4 and, perhaps more importantly, FT3 levels tested?

Hi. My previous dr contacted me right before I switched Dr's just leaving me a vm that I was a bit too high and just kept me from Mon-Sat with 200mg dosage then Sunday off. I've been like this for a long time one day off one day half and it's always never right. I might add in the past I probably would miss a few doses or not take it first thing in the morning. But I decided I'm taking this faithfully every morning for a month straight then I'll see my dr and that's when she left me msg saying I was running too high. Ivery the last 2 yrs felt awful off and on, and while I waited and hr and a half too see her I had only a quick 2 mins with her then off to labs she sent me. My symtoms were never concerning to her. I've had anight er Dr tell me my dosage was too high for my weight and my new dr tell me the same. I guess there's a debate about that but I know people who don't have one either and are on 75mg or less. I can remember before my daughter I was probably in the 120s or less. I just hope whatever the situation I feel back to normal again.

Also I haven't been tested since my new dosage as I'm assuming he's waiting a month to see where I am with this dosage.
