Hello, I've got hypopituitarism the worst part of which is adrenal insufficiency .Before diagnosis I could hardly walk and had red grooves down my chin from dribbling. Sometimes I still dribble and I don't know why . I've had an MRI to check for a tumour and there isn't one and I'm dizzy perhaps from being overweight .

Dizziness can be a symptom of hypothyroidism (as can being overweight). Have you had a test? If so can you post the results here (TSH, FT4, FT3) with their ranges so that someone can comment?

Hello eeng, I am experimenting with taking a quarter of a 100mcg extra every second day to see if it helps with the weight problem since I think my GP wants to put me on statins. However If you take more thyroxine you may need more steroid because it uses it up? I'm not good at the medical knowledge but I think there is relationship.. Here are some test results from a while ago :-Thyroid free T4 19 ,TSH 0.9 and Pituitary hormones are:- LH 17, FSH 28 ,IGF1 15. I think my free t4 has been going up perhaps as I reduce the steroids (hydrocortisone)

How did they diagnose hypopiturism? Was it because your TSH was low?

I ask because my TSH is always close to zero regardless of how much or how little T4 Meds I take. Was it because your T4 was very high?

I do have a small lesion on my pituitary (I had an MRI) but the doc does not think it is causing my low TSH (I do).

Another thing we have in common is that I love chickens! Thats a fine looking chicken you have their, I have eight of them, all rescues from people who didn't want them any more - how can you not manage a chicken, they are so easy to keep, they just cruise around the garden all day eating all the creepy crawlies, and you get incredibly good eggs with them.

you need to have a pituitary specialist check out the lesion..my pituitary was normal in 2009, i accidently found on the mri report that there was a small cyst noted, nearby. Nothing was done..today, i have a damaged pituitary!

Noted, I will keep all e-mail correspondence esp. requests for MRIs every 6 months. Can you be specific about the difficulties you are experiencing now that you know you have a disruptive cyst on your pituitary? This is all very scary for me.

my cyst is gone and my pituitary is squished, it may have ruptured. I need to have more eval done, but too ill to travel right now....i have thyroid issues, low TSH, now, when it was high from hashimotos, i have blood flow issues in my brain , cognitive, trembling , swelling..like fluid retention, blurred vision, which changes rapidly. i believe my growth hormone is low, because of the increased blood fats and the way i am unable to grow or maintain muscle..muscle pain, weakness, dried out sagging skin, thick skin from low metabolism..myxedema.. hair loss, insulin resistance, sudden large belly/abdomen, odd lumpy soft fatty, odd..mucin? racing heart..severe anxiety, mixed with depression..i do not leave the house, don't feel like the person i used to be at all or look like myself, i have no interest in sex, men..in anything and i get mad very easily.. and it happened very rapidly in 2010..

Oh my gosh Faith, I wish I could say something that would help you. I hope that your doctor is clever enough to plod through the various treatments that could fix each of your problems. I do appreciate your telling me all of this, it will certainly open my eyes to what to look out for. Thank you.

thank you..look at all of the hormones involved in the pituitary. When it becomes damaged, you lose those hormones and symptoms come from loss of that , as well as excess fluid in areas it should not be..

Have you had your b12 checked. Sounds a lot like pernicious anaemia to me, especially with the autoimmune issue. Have a look on the PA society website.

Hello LAHs

, I was taken to hospital very ill but since then I've found out they do two tests 1 A short synacthen test where they inject ACTH into your arm and then do a blood test to measure if there has been any response from the adrenal glands to the hormone.2 a test to see if there is any ACTH being produced from the pituitary to stimulate the adrenal glands into making cortisol. Low ACTH and low cortisol test results means hypopituitary. High ACTH and low cortisol is Addison's disease

Glad you like the chicken . I don't own any but wouldn't mind having chickens and bees.

Thank you Hippypop, I am going to ask for that ACTH test as soon as possible, it sounds as if it will flush out a number of causes of problems. I appreciate your telling me about this. Thank you.
