Very good article. Totally in agreement!
Totally agree Chloe79, some clever Doctors have been treating people with depression with T3 for a while now. Also there have been mentions of people with Baby Blues, Autism, Tourettes, Bi Polar, etc., all linking in with low thyroid.
I believe everyone who has a progresive illness should also be tested, along with the usual vitamins and irons etc..
Although I am in agreement with the opinion that the thyroid can be involved with many types of depression I am concerned at the blanket statement. I am suffering from depression at the moment but I know it is due to circumstances that surround me and no pill or thyroid intervention will make me feel better, only a change in circumstances can do this, which I am working on. I just think we have to be careful to take other considerations into account.
Yes of course, you are right and it is important to not fall into the trap of beliving there is only one answer to such a multi faceted illness. It is just a very positive step that people are starting to consider there may be more causes than a 'chemical imbalance in the brain' and that there are more treatment options than anti depressants. I know that my mental health improved massively once I started t3.
Kind regards.
