I was diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism mid 2015, and after trialing basic treatment my condition progressively got much worse (and am hoping to have another child) to a point where early March (14th March) I was advised to take the Radioactive Iodine tablet. This has cured all the Hyper issues, however, I have now gone into complete reverse (obviously I sort of expected this) and the doctors tell me they think I am now Hypo - I all the symptoms, except that my TSH level is practically zero, so there is clearly another problem, and although my T3 and T4 levels are in range, these are very slowly starting to go down, which makes me wonder if something else is wrong...
I am rapidly gaining weight (5kg in 5 weeks), am very tired, depressed, and most of my skin (mainly my face and tummy) is really puffy.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!
Mia.

It can take months/years for the TSH of previously hyperthyroid patients to recover and it sometimes will not recover. FT4 and FT3 are thyroid hormones and if these are dropping it indicates that the RAI has ablated your thyroid and you are becoming hypothyroid. Symptoms can precede abnormal bloods but doctors seem incapable of recognising this. I hope it won't be too long before your doctors accept that you need Levothyroxine hormone replacement.
