I have constant diarrhoea.

Can this be due to low stomach acid.

Can this be low iron.

Or is it just irritable bowel which only started during menopause.

kate

pps seem to spend my whole life sitting down.

lying down in bed. Sitting down on loo.

Kjc1tisdell,

Coeliac disease (gluten-intolerance) often causes diarrhoea. Ask your GP to do a coeliac screen.

I have been tested years ago it came back negative. I have a gluten free diet. And to have the test you have to start eating gluten again.

But 2 of my siblings have celiac and b12 deficiency but there thyroid is normal weird right.

thanks will ask.

Kjctisdell,

No point in asking for a coeliac screen. If you are g-f it can't be gluten causing diarrhoea. Did gastroenterology diagnose IBS?

No don't have in a then. This is a more recent thing. Ongoing for 16 months. It is a pain because this is how long I've been going through menopause and gp s blame everything on this. i am worried though i think it may be an inflammatory thing I have autimmune disorders but which one today is it. I have put off a couple of docs appointment as I can't get out of bed in time my fault I am exhausted. I need my vitamins retested and my thyroid . I am back on all levo. Want to change to NDT but have to deal with underlying symptons first. I am also incontinent and have back pain and hip pain and a lack of feeling in legs. Need an mri to see if I have crumbling disc as I have osteoporosis of spine. Diagnosed at aged 35.

It is hard when there is more than one thing dont know which to tackle first. I know something wrong with my spine as I am a physiotherapist and have been having physio and it hasn't improved.

thanks for responding to me when I get bloods I will post and see what what.

thanks

A short time after being diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis and hypothyroidism, I developed severe watery bloody diarrhoea. After a spell in hospital I had a colonoscopy with biopsies taken and was diagnosed with lymphocytic colitis ( a form of inflammatory bowel disease - very different from ibs). Another autoimmune disorder. It can only be diagnosed by biopsy under a microscope. It flares up periodically but so far I've only had a couple of flares. Apparently it's pretty rare but I think it's because they don't take the biopsies so can't diagnose it! Clemmie

Have thought it mayve some kind of cholitis as I getting sores on my legs which can be a symptom.

do you take some sort of cortisone for this condition.

When it flares I take steroids for a couple of months and Imodium becomes my best friend! Clemmie

Thanks, I was doing ok until the physio messed up and gave me the wrong exercises so now back to pain as if it's the first day after surgery. But I know it will ease up as days go by. Had a piece of bone removed from shoulder. Thyroid wise, I was looking very swollen in my face for a good few days after the surgery but that seems to be getting better now and once I'm a bit more mobile I'm sure that I will feel even better.

I've just read your reply to Clutter and you are in a bad way, aren't you? I started off with joint pains early in my life. In my mid to late 20's I developed terrible back and hip pain and needed spinal surgery which took me a long time to recover from. Then 10 years ago I was having pain in my feet, it felt like I was walking on marbles all the time. Whenever I mentioned it to my GP he ignored me. Then my husband started working in the Middle East so I saw an orthopedic surgeon who arranged scans and told me I. Needed to see a rheumatologist and I was diagnosed with sero negative rheumatoid arthritis. I retuned to the UK where they finally took notice of me and diagnosed Psoriatic arthritis, then hashimotos then finally LC ( diagnosed back here in ME but now in my records in the UK) I'm afraid you are going to have to make up your mind to fight to get your health back. If your back problems are what's causing your incontinence then you need to get that sorted first. You must get that MRI done, and quickly, that should not be allowed to continue. I was an orthopedic nurse before my joint problems and this is really ringing alarm bells. Don't let them fob you off. You're a physio, you know it's not right. Please take that first step. Clemmie x

This may be a long shot but there are a bunch of similar symptoms (adrenal, hips, etc...) to me which I treated here and there with this and that, turns out at the root of all of my issues was a B12 deficiency (sounds mad, I know) but once I dealt with that the tiredness the diarrhea etc. all went away. Here are a list of symptoms, you are going to see a bunch of yours on here difficulty-swallowing.com/s... there is also a great video by a nurse Sally Pacholok and her doctor husband under the video section as the the Dr Chandy one in the same video (7 min BBC doco), well worth a watch, if you have stomach issues your absorption of B12 will likely be compromised and make sure you go over what is deemed to be 'normal' B12 levels in the UK vs. the likes of Japan, as your doctor will say you aren't deficient but the scale is so radically different between countries so as to be near useless. All the best.

PS I am also a coeliac (diagnosed at menopause) but have just as bad a reaction to corn (which is in absolutely everything) might be worth a try excluding for you perhaps?
