Carriebaby,

You need to know what the range is. Often <34 is negative but in my area <100 is negative.

Been back onto my surgery girl was hopeless when I asked her the range she said it only had (0.6) in brackets so don't know what to make of it other than I might have hashimotos as why else would the doctor want to speak to me !!!!

Carriebaby,

Ask your GP for the range when s/he calls you.

If I do have hash what difference is it to having an under active thyroid ? I have thought that the front of my throat has looked swollen for years now is this a sign ??

Carriebaby,

Swollen throat can be due to an enlarged thyroid gland (goitre). Hashimoto's can cause a goitre but so can high TSH and sometimes there is no apparent reason why goitre develops.

It won't make any difference to your treatment whether your hypothyroidism is idiopathic or due to autoimmune disease (Hashimoto's) as there is no cure for Hashimoto's which causes 90% of hypothyroidism. Levothyroxine is prescribed to replace the low thyroid hormone.

100% gluten-free diet may help reduce symptoms and antibodies.

Thanks for all tour advice I think I have a goitre and have had this for at least 10 years (swollen looking throat, never really been over medicated started off 18 years ago on 150mg a day Levothyroxine and been as low as 75 mg . I insisted on getting this antibodies test done along with FT3 as I have been struggling for the past 15 years trying to loose weight 😩 Levo only did the total job at the start so roughly got 3 years of normality

My antibodies test result is Peroxide A.B 42.6 so defiantly think I have Hashimotos
