I have written about my struggles to tolerate levothroxine on here and was so was prescribed T3 and was so hyper on it I ended up hospital with constant palpitations and a resting heart rate of 125!!! I came off it and have been off for 2 months and have now had bloods back  with a tsh level of over 100. I feel.terrible.of course, have done for months but put this down to moving, not sleeping and home schooling!

What should I do to get my levels normal. I can't get to see a gp until Monday. Should I startback on T3 slowly and see how that goes and then see gp or go back on t4? So worried about my health lately and have pains and fatigue everyday.

Vwyness,

How much Levothyroxine were your originally taking and how much T3 were you taking when you switched?

I can't quite remember but was in a very low dose. I think it was 25 t4 and 10 t3.

Vwyness,

That is a low dose.  Hard to see how that could raise blood pressure.

TSH 100 is very high so I would start on 50mcg Levothyroxine plus 10mcg T3 which is equivalent to 80mcg Levothyroxine.  It took  6 weeks to bring my TSH down from 107 to 0.16 on 100mcg Levothyroxine.

I will start at a much lower dose as previous experience has taught me. Just so sick of going around in circles and getting worse all the time. I am also breastfeeding so concerned about t3 passing into breast milk so perhaps I'll just stick to 25mcgs of t4 and  see how it goes.

I had a look at your earlier posts. You could try just the T3. I am on T3 only - I take mine in the middle of the night/or 6am if I sleep through - it sends me back to sleep. T3 information sheet says 'Liothyronine sodium is excreted into breast milk in low concentrations.' But you're on a really low dose and I guess not feeding too much now.

For the body to be able to use the hormone you are giving it, your vit d, vit B12, folate and ferritin need to be optimal. Have you had any of these tested? It might be the place to start.
