I am having problems trying to persuade my GP to treat me according to the levels recommended here (ie v low tsh and high t4). I was thinking i may ask him to refer me to a specialist. Do most specialists agree with these levels or is it considered controversial? I just want to be prepared in case I am in for a battle. Thanks.

Katee64,
It rather depends on the doctor. Some will agree that FT4 needs to be in the upper range which may mean that TSH will be low or suppressed, others fixate on TSH being in range without regard to FT4 and FT3.
