2.94 mIU/L  ( 0.3 - 5.0 )

I would appreciate some info into my blood test results. I am 75 years old and was on 150mg of thyroxine a day for 26 years and felt fine.

My GP recently reduced my meds to 100mg a day. I am falling asleep after lunch and have put on a considerable amount of weight so asked for a print out.

I'v no ideal what they mean as i'v had no reason to see my results for the last 26 years. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Why did the GP reduce your dose ?  Your TSH is too high for someone on T4/Levo .....  You could ask for the FT4 and FT3 to be tested.  Am wondering how your levels of B12 are ? - also the FERRITIN - FOLATE - VITD.  When low they too can make you feel sleepy among many other symptoms .....

They shouldn't reduce your dose if you were feeling fine. Phone and tell GP you are symptomatic and want to go back to your previous dose. Imagine feeling fine for 26years and then, you feel awful.

Doctors do not know the effect of adjusting hormones only due to the TSH (from the pituitary gland) but you certainly do now especially dropping a third of your dose. It's more than ridiculous.

Dropping from 150mcg to 100mcg is a HUGE drop.

GP's seem to have no idea how finely dose needs to be adjusted for many of us.

A more realistic reduction (if really needed which could be doubtful) would be to take 150mcg and 125mcg on alternate days - giving an average of 137mcg per day.

As they have upset your body balance by reducing dose, it would definitely be good idea to get Vit D, folate, B12 and ferratin levels checked.

I can't see any justification for a drop in medication. Just to make it clear, as a general rule TSH rises when more thyroid meds are required.

The average TSH for healthy people is very roughly 1 - 1.5.
