Congratulations Nettiboo.

Treatment for hypothyroidism should be increased during the pregnancy as baby doesn't use his own thyroid hormones until about 15 weeks old and your own increased demand will continue until baby is born.

Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) should be kept LOW as thyroid hormone level is critical to normal development of baby’s brain and nervous system.

Your GP should follow local specialist advice regarding your dose and if you are having palpitations you should ask to see the specialist. TSH & T4 levels should be monitored every four weeks and your Levo dose titrated during the first trimester, and then at 16 & 28 weeks of gestation.

Your body may settle once it has accepted the increased Levo dose but in light of your previous loss and difficulties with nutrient deficiencies, I suggest you discuss this with your GP ASAP. If he is uncooperative you can email louise.warvill@thyroiduk.org.uk for a list of sympathetic endos/doctors that members have had positive experiences with but ensure he has experience in pregnancy..

I wish you both well.

Yes eljii,

NICE guidelines are ... [ ... Aim for a TSH concentration in the low-normal range (0.4 mU/L to 2.0 mU/L) and an FT4 concentration in the upper reference range ... ] ... although those who function better on a suppressed TSH would obviously require it lower.

Hello I'm not pregnant right now 👎 But it was the hypothyroid that was picked up during fertility testing. I started off on 25 over 2 years ago. Gradually increased to 100 and he has told me when we do 🙏 Get pregnant it will increase by 25 increments straight away. He said its vital this is increased as its critical in the early development of the baby. My fertility doctor reckons that's what's stopped me falling on before now because my thyroiditis wasn't under control. Have only just recently started ovulating again now it's stable so fingers crossed. Defo see your gp asap. Oh and congrats by the way 👏😊 xxxxxx
