THY PEROX AB TEST.

Hello, Would someone be able to tell me what the following blood test means - THY PEROX AB 72 IU/ML range 0-60.   I was copied in a letter sent from the hospital. I know the TSH RECEPTOR AB - 1.9 U/L range 0-0.4 was Graves. When  I asked my GP he didn't know.

Many thanks

Thyroid peroxidase antibodies are found in people with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis (autoimmune hypothyroidism) and may sometimes be found in Graves' Disease.

on my recent test it was 1300+ ..I guess after that amount it doesn't really matter how bad is bad ?

The ranges also vary hugely. But 1300+ would be high on any of them.

Cindy21,

Don't accuse me of ignoring you, I've answered about half a dozen of your questions today and I answered your question about antibodies on another post a few minutes ago.

Most people have some thyroid antibodies, it's having them above range which determines they are positive for Hashimoto's.

Cindy21, You have got this thread muddled up with your own. Yours can be found here :

healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

I looked at that thread and found this comment of yours :

"TPOA were less than 33. "

TPO Antibodies being less than 33 means that you had very few or no antibodies of that type. This is considered to be a normal, healthy result.
