My doctor says my antibodies test is negative and would I like to come off Levothyroxine. I have been on it for four years 75mcg. I am a little worried it is that easy.

Coming off Levo
You would only have tolerated 75mcg of levo per day for four years if you were hypothyroid. Of course you must stay on it! I'm gobsmacked your doctor could think otherwise.
Digby, Patients can be hypothyroid without having autoimmune thyroid antibodies. What was your TSH when you were first diagnosed and what is now on 75mcg? Thyroid function tends to decrease with time not improve. I don't think your GP is right on this and you may want to get a second opinion before deciding.

Thank you very much for your reply Clutter. May I send you an email with attachment. How can I send you a private message. Have just changed to Windows 10 and haven't got a clue now !!.
Do you still have hypo symptoms? If so, then you need it - in fact you might not be on enough. If you don't then I guess you could try lowering the dose to see what happens? It sounds like your doctor is going by blood test alone though, and not considering symptoms at all.

Hi Digby - I'm not really an expert here - I'm just learning about all this from the good people on this forum (like Clutter above). It might be best to simply post your results in a new thread here. Then, people in the know will be able to advise you.
I don't think I'd be able to help you much beyond my comment above. I simply know from here (and from my own experience) that doctors tend to go by blood tests alone (generally TSH only) and ignore symptoms. I had to go to a private doc to get diagnosed myself. If you're still symptomatic then you probably need thyroid hormones - but I'm no good at interpreting results I'm afraid.
