I've also gone gluten free but read recently that Levo contains gluten but you can get meds gluten free. Just wondering if anyone has any info on this.

I don't think levo contaons gluten. It will say on the paper in your packet. It does usually contain lactose, though.
I'm not aware of any probs with hypo and anaesthesia, if I am wrong others will comment. There can be probs with certain anaesthetics if u r B 12 deficient.
Hi can I ask you a question rather than answer your question ?
I've read a lot about Hashimotos ,but I still can't understand what it's all about,I know it's stomach issues, but what, like what are the symptoms ect.
I'm sorry I can't help you with your problem,I can't even help myself.
Ok it's complicated. It's essentially an immune problem so you need to find the root cause. Conventional medicine can do very little to help so we are left to sort ourselves out. Your root cause will probably be different from mine. It could be a time when you were under severe stress had an infection or past illness that triggered it, like glandular fever or gut infection like H Pylori.
It is believed that all who suffer from Auto Immune conditions have Leaky Gut Syndrome. Stomach issues can vary usually indigestion heartburn diahorea constipation or both bloating especially after certain food. It causes inflammation which increases your symptoms. So it's a case of eliminating foods that cause inflammation. No 1 on the list is gluten it's best to cut out all food that contains Gluten. So try to heal your gut first and reset your immune system. Best to avoid sugar coffee and alcohol. I use a Probiotic from Immunecare which needs to be kept in the fridge. I have spent some time sourcing good quality supplement for this if you want to PM me I can give you further info. You can also get Glutamin, and colostrum from the same company to use with the probiotic.
Check out Chrisa Orecchios web site also Isabella Wentz they both give useful info on healing your gut. The Carolinas Thyroid institute have information you can download about Hashimoto's. Another good source is Natural Endocrine Solutions. If you sign up on these sites you will get their news letters with lots of advice. They very often run webinars on Hashimoto which helps give you a better understanding. Also check California Thyroid Institute web site for info.
Hope this helps. I'm in the process of sourcing a good Tumeric supplement for inflammation it's important to get one that's is easily absorbed. I'll have information on this next week again PM me with your email and I'll update you.
Ellemac, UK Levothyroxine is gluten-free. I believe all UK meds are gluten-free. I'm not aware that there are problems with general anaesthetic in Hashimoto's patients. There were certainly no problems with the 2 thyroid operations I had after being diagnosed with Hashi's 4 years ago.
If you are taking any thyroid replacement whether this is Levo, Thyroxine, Syndroid, or NDT such as Armour, WP thyroid, Nature-Throid etc. and you are about to have anaesthesia (local or general) you have to mention this to the doctor and to the anaesthetist, even to the dentist if it is also applicable as they'll opt for a non-adrenaline one.
