No, you don't need levothyroxine. It's low because your thyroid doesn't need to make any because it's getting T3 instead. But I would suggest that you need a raise in liothyronine.
So if a patient is getting adequate T3, would it make the ratio irrelevant (asking because I'm on T4 only at present)?
It just seems that mandy72's raised TSH indicates the pituitary trying to stimulate more production of T4 despite the T3 being high in range. Does the body need T4 for functions other than conversion to T3?
The FT3's not that high. Some people even need it slightly over the top. The TSH is saying she needs more T3.
I'm on T3 only, my FT4 is zero and I Don't feel the least little bit like I need T4. I Don't know if it has other functions, people can't seem to agree on that. Let's just say that, so far, nothing has been proved.
But, it really is my opinion that the ratio is irrelevant. As we are all so different, how can there possibly be one ratio that has to be respected for everyone. There maybe in healthy people, but we Don't fall into that catagory. We need what we need.
i cant increase, even a tiny increase has my heart racing so may well have to try the levo too but trying to talk my dr round will be impossible as endo said 40mcg T3 and what she says goes.......dont matter how i feel
