Can anyone explain why I cannot take menopace plus anymore. It contains iodine and isoflavones . My doctor said he would prefer me not too. I have been taking it for 2 years now. Had a full hysterectomy 4 years ago..no hrt and found menopace good for everything! I cannot find a multi vit with isoflavones and no iodine. I'm hypothyroid.
Thank you

I'm wondering if you have a switched on doctor? I suppose there are a few about (yes, I am a bit cynical!). Did you not ask him to explain why he was saying that?
Iodine is a bit "iffy", too much can cause problems as well as to little. I was seriously thinking of adding iodine to my supplements because of breast cysts and them being linked to lack of iodine. I decided to get my level tested first and found I was nicely in the middle of the range so it couldn't be linked to my cysts. I take a multi with 70mcg iodine in and I am comfortable with that, I wouldn't want to go any higher.
Isoflavones are frequently from soy and soy is best avoided of you are hypo.
Sroux, your doctor may be doing you a favour as a matter of fact.
It is not the iodine content in menopace but the isoflavones that is the culprit.
High and/or regular intake of soy isoflavones will put the thyroid at risk. It creates intestinal problems, as well, to include poor absorption, it alters the metabolic process in the liver; and triggers the production of antibodies by the immune system to thyroid enzymes, receptors, or hormone precursors
