Hi just found out my TSH is 8.9 but T4 within normal limits (sorry forgot to get value). My GP has increased my dose from 50 to 75 mcgs levothyroxine. I feel a bit more 'with it' but also feel very agitated and anxious. Is this normal after an increase in dose and if so how long will it take to settle down. Thank you! Jo

Increase in dose
Joav1, it's probably the increase in TSH which is making you feel jittery but some people do feel a bit off when dose is increased. The feeling should pass within a week or two if increasing dose is responsible.
Wellcome to our forum,
When were you diagnosed with hypothyroidism and how long have you been on 50mcg of levothyroxine?
Hi, diagnosed with hashimotos about 7 years ago, started on 25 then onto 50 about year after and been on that since. Went to GP due to sore throat, night sweats and breast pain. He did TFT as hadn't been done for a year. Also says I'm vit D deficient so started on supplements as well! Rather feel tired than agitated so hoping I get used to new dose quickly. Thanks 😊
I should think a dose of 50mcg might have been too low a dose for 7 years and hopefully your increase will be helpful. Get another blood test in about 6 to 8 weeks to make sure your dose is more or less accurate, by that I mean you feel much improved with energy. I wonder if you still have antibodies in your system.? Any blood test for thyroid hormones should be the earliest possible and fast (you can drink water). Also allow 24 hours approx between your last dose and the test. This allows you TSH to be highest as it drops throughout the day and may result in a wrong adjustment if the doctor only goes by the TSH alone.
