I know we aren't supposed to take Iodine supplements but...
I think it is a bit tricky situation. If you google iodine 24 hour loading test you find pdf document by ZRT laboratory stating most people fail with that test and up taking way too much iodine.
Have to admit, ZRT laboratory uses iodine test too. Different types tho. Been tested by them twice. Their test includes much more than just iodine and bromide.
As far as I am concerned figuring out whether one is iodine deficient it involves all factors than just iodine itself.
I am not against using iodine ,but I am against jumping into conclusions.
Besides another point of view suggests that added iodine is the reason for increased numbers of hashimoto. So. Who knows.
My hashimoto highly disagrees with iodine so no can do even if it was proven iodine is the fix.
I asked the doctor about it once because I used to take Kelp tablets and was thinking about starting them again. He told me not to.
Then a few weeks ago one of the supplement websites had a product for thyroid support so I wrote to their expert nutritionist about them and asked about it, also telling her what dose of Levo I was on.
She wrote back promptly telling me to get advice from my doctor because if I was on medication already it probably wasn't a good idea to buy that product.

And it is all very well claiming the two are vastly different, but then to not explain at all what those claimed differences are?
Depends who "we" are. Those with antibodies have to read a lot of research and consider whether or not they might be low in iodine, and whether they should take a calculated ristk to try it or not, or with selenium, or not at all.
Those without antibodies should be fine taking iodine, especially if they have not had much in their diets.
Ellie-Louise, this is a subject that rears it's ugly head from time to time. But, there has been research that proves this isn't true.
It's not even logical, because when you take thyroid hormone replacement, you are taking iodine! Every molecule of T4 has four atoms of iodine. When T4 is converted to T3 or rT3, one atom of iodine is released into the blood Stream and recycled. So, if you are on a high dose of T4 - or T3, come to that - that's quite a bit of iodine. And if your thyroid isn't using it to make hormone, then that's more iodine for the breasts.
Medical researchers and doctors often seem to muddle up cause and effect. And, to be honest, I can't make head nor tail of this article. And I've read it twice. I get the bit about low iodine causing breast cancer, but cannot see anywhere where they explain the link between thyroid medication and cancer. How does it cause cancer? Plus, they seem to be assuming that all thyroid problems are caused by low iodine, and that supplementing with iodine is all that's needed to put things right. And that is just not true. Would it not be more logical to assume that it is the same problem causing both thyroid problems and breast cancer, that both of them are symptoms of the same thing, rather than one causing the other?
But, as I said, research has been done proving that this just is not true. I posted the link a while back, so it's somewhere on my profile.

Well, I think everyone understood what you meant. But the point is, more isn't always better. Too much iodine is as bad as too little.
The more discussion about trying to cure thyroid problems the better, people can say things that are not relevant but they may lead to other things that are.
I came across one study carried out in Australia that gave children 2400mg a day of iodine for 5 years with no side effects
another study again in Australia gave cardiac patients in a hospital 70mg of iodine 3 x a day with the only side effect that they recovered quicker.
getting all your nutrients in the correct balance seems to be especially helpful,
removing the fluoride which concentrates in your pineal gland as well as not consuming any would be of paramount importance so replace any toothpaste with sodium bicarbonate pharmaceutical grade is best

if you take the yolk of a raw egg it supplies your essential amino acids but it has to be raw as heat denatures protein and the white has 2 anti nutrients in it whites should only be taken for muscles if you have been exercising
if you are going to eat raw yolks always drink a teaspoon of acetic acid in some pure water 30 minutes before you eat the yolk, salmonella can be found in some eggs if the supplier does not have good sanitation and the acetic acid kills all the bacteria the acetic acid also cleans out the lactic acid and another acid that I can't remember now.
also salmonella can be found in pasteurised milk as well so don't let hat put you off
