mable_rai,

Welcome to our forum and sorry to hear you are not well.

The parathyroid glands regulate calcium. Have you had these tested?

Vit D is required to absorb calcium from the gut into the blood stream and helps the amount of calcium the gut can absorb from eaten foods.

High cortisol levels, an inflamed gut and not eating enough of the right fats can inhibit Vit D absorbtion.

Do you have gut issues? Have you had Vit D tested?

Post any test results complete with ranges ( numbers in brackets) for members to comment.

Take calcium supplements four hours away from thyroid meds to prevent malabsorbtion of Eltroxin.

I don't know much about the parathyroid glands. Maybe someone with hypocalceaemia will be able to answer better.

What thyroid hormones are your taking? Is it levothyroxine or T3/T4? What's the dose?

Do you have a print-out of your latest blood test results with the ranges? If not get a copy from the surgery and post them on a new question.

When you have a blood test for your thyroid hormones always get the earliest appointment and fast (you can drink water). Leave about 24 hours between your last dose of levo and the test and take it afterwards. It's helpful to do this as doctors usually only take notice of the TSH and may adjust your meds up/down which isn't the correct and may result in us feeling worse than before.

I hope you feel better soon which you will do when on the correct dose and hormones.

Calcium tablets aren't a very good thing to take. You'd probably be better off with magnesium and zinc - possibly vit D3, dépends on your test result - and definately vit K2. Also, a full range of other vitamins.
