Momo1948, it's difficult to read the scanned results but I think that TSH is 9.12 which is high, and FT4 12.2 is almost bottom of range. For maximum absorption Levothyroxine should be taken with water 1 hour before or 2 hours after food and drink, 2 hours away from other medication, and 4 hours away from calcium, iron, vitamin D and oestrogen.

25mcg isn't likely to be sufficient dose to restore you to euthyroid status so make sure you book a follow up thyroid test in 6-8 weeks as you'll need a dose increase. Arrange the blood draw early in the morning, and fast (water only) as TSH is highest then. Take Levothyroxine after the blood draw.

TPOab looks like 377 which is positive for autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's).

I can't read most of the other results.

Momo, I'm afraid it will take a while until you are euthyroid with TSH around 1.0 but you should feel improvement as thyroid levels get better. Ask your GP to test ferritin, B12 and folate when you have your thyroid test, and if they haven't been done in the past couple of months, ask for calcium and vitD too. The swelling is likely to be due to hypothyroidism but the funny feeling in toes can be due to low calcium or low B12.

Momo1948, doctors differ in their start and titration dosing. If you are under 50 without heart disease your doctor could have started you at 50-75mcg. NICE recommendations are in this link cks.nice.org.uk/hypothyroid...

Momo, Levothyroxine is better absorbed at night, I don't know why they continue to tell people to take it in the morning.

When you know n understand more you can settle in your mind and get on with it its the not knowing isnt it

Momo1948, I certainly cope better when I'm well informed. Not knowing makes me anxious and antsy.
