Motherelle, low ferritin can cause hairloss but I wouldn't call 74 unduly low. >100 to half way through range is considered optimal so there is scope for supplementing iron which should be taken with 500-1,000mg vitamin C to aid absorption and minimise constipation.

VitD is optimal 75-200, most people are comfortable around 100. How much vitD are you supplementing?

Low zinc can cause hairloss. Supplement zinc with magnesium to keep minerals balanced.

Hi clutter I'm taking 10 drops which is 1,000 IU

So 74 out of a range going up to 200 isn't low ?

Can you explain to me please what the difference is between iron and ferritin ! I really was hoping this was the reason for my hair loss .

Thank you for your reply 😀 Xxx

Motherelle, I suggest you increase vitD to 2,500iu.

Ferritin is stored iron. It fluctuates constantly as iron is dumped into ferritin when not required, then withdrawn for use as needed. 74 is low in range but >70 isn't generally thought to cause hair loss, however, another member says she does have hairloss when her ferritin is <150. You can supplement iron to see if it improves.
