I have tried so many strategies, read so many books failed on levo and armour. Wondering whether to make that appointment and spend more money only to be disappointed. I would love to hear your feedback-privately if more appropriate. Thank you all x
Has anyone been successfully treated under the ... - Thyroid UK
Has anyone been successfully treated under the care of Dr P?
Even with the knowledge - experience and wisdom of Dr P - you still have to put in the hard work and not expect a miracle overnight.
I found his Treatment Plans excellent and he teaches you to take good care of yourself and to listen to your body. I saw him in the early days of my Hashimotos and found his approach very useful.
Have you read his book ?
Hi Marz- Thank you for your reply. I have spent 18 months trying so hard, spent hundreds on naturopathic treatments and if anything I have got worse. So frustrating. I am so glad he helped you out. I have heard such great things about him being nice but its always good to hear that his patients have restored health under his care. Thank you x
Hi There-
Last results showed
22/10/2015
TSH 6.05 (0.9-4.1)
T4 13.9 (12-22)
T3 4.3 (3.1-6.2)
Currently on levo 75mcg.
I have been following gluten/diary/sugar free (most of the time)
14/9/2015
TSH-3.0 (0.9-4.1)
FT3 4.1 (3.1-6.2)
on one occasion I showed antibodies of 35 (0-34)
Another test showed negative antibodies.
adrenal saliva test 10 months ago showed stage 3 maladaption with low DHEA-cortisol ratio.
I am not coeliac but have high antinuclear antibodies. No other autoimmune disease.
Current symptoms
Awful anxiety
Feel like I have a virus
Fatigue
Weight loss
Hair loss
Tired but wired
Memory loss
Abdominal discomfort
No libido
Disconnected (functional but no thought process)
Episodes of rapid heart rate and palpitations ( now referred to cardiology)
I have tried armour ( even though bloods were good I felt really unwell on it)
Levo at various doses but seem to be unable to tolerate dose increases now)
Nutri adrenal Extra
Loads of vitamins and supplements and all optimum levels.
Has been suggested I have CFS but GP doesn't think so.
Not sure what Dr P can do for me really......
Frazzie1, you are very undermedicated. TSH should be nearer 1.0 and FT4 and FT3 higher. If you can't tolerate more Levothyroxine consider adding T3.

Hi Clutter- I would if I could but GP won't prescribe it and I have another 3 months wait to see the endocrinologist....
I figure my options are:- try adding 1/4 grain armour in (even though its made me feel odd in the past)
Try and increase levo by splitting the dose to 50 am and 50 pm to see if I can tolerate it better but recently it seems to make me feel even more anxious.
Restart the nutri adrenal extra?
My last TSH went up after I was started on iodine so I am not sure if it was that?
Hard to know but I feel awful and really fed up
Thanks for replying
Frazzie, What was your TSH prior to supplementing iodine? Iodine has been prescribed to hyperthyroid patients to slow thyroid hormone production. Why not stop supplementing iodine and see whether thyroid levels improve on 75mcg?

Some questions and suggestions for you...
1) Are you still eating gluten-free?
2) What kind of diet do you eat? Low/high fat? Low/high carb? Paleo? Vegan? Vegetarian? How much protein do you eat?
3) You've said that your vitamins are at optimal levels, but looking through your previous posts I saw no listing of the blood test results you've had other than thyroid. Could you post other results as well?
4) You should read Dr Peatfield's book before you decide what to do next. It can be bought in Kindle format for £3.59.
amazon.co.uk/Your-Thyroid-H...
5) What conditions apply when you get thyroid blood tests done? The blood needs to be drawn as early in the morning as possible, before 9am if possible. You need to have stopped thyroid meds for 24 hours before the blood draw. You need to fast (except for water - being dehydrated is not good) for 8 - 10 hours before the blood is drawn.
6) If you've ever had iron/ferritin tested, did you stop any iron supplements for 5 - 7 days beforehand?
Frazzie, in a rush so not sure I'm saying too much here! I've seen Dr P recently. Am in the middle of starting his advice and its going well so far. He gave me advice I couldn't have got elsewhere. I think this forum took me about 50% of the way, but it contradicted a lot else I was thinking, and isn't covered in his excellent book!
But also he was very insistent I shouldn't be wasting money on silly doctors, so I will spend a lot less than I did on the last private doctor I saw. If things go well I think I won't see him again, but will exchange a few letters, as he suggested.
He also expects you to buy your own T3 or NDT and take most of the responsibility. As he said to me "You're a bright girl, you don't need me telling you what to do". Which was a treat, obviously!
